Our original inspiration for this design came from a sneak peak of Celerie Kembell’s new book to be released November 1st - “Black and White and a bit in between”. I was so drawn to the drama that was created with this clean look of the black background and these 4 white rectangles and the pops of white throughout the room. It is the same graceful look that you get from a white anemone with a black button center –a quite delicate strength.

I LOVE that this is such a clean look – there is no apple green, no red, no light pink, no hot pink just black & white. Is there anything more elegant?!!! It is like a sleek black tux with a crisp white shirt. Even better – it is unexpected and out of the ordinary. We see white with black, we see all white and at the occasional goth wedding we see all black but an clean balance of just black and white – it is rare.

This look is easier to obtain that you might think – but you have to be true to your vision. Rule #1 -No damask, no stripes. Put sequins on your linens and crystals from your arrangements but don’t deviate from your plan. Rule #2 – balance – not too much black – not too much white. Rule #3 – Focus - let the black be your main color – linens, chairs, focal points – should all be black. The white is the accessory.

We have a few great examples of how this can come together. The first is a beautiful spread from brides.com that we have had in our back pocket for quite some time. It is a reception at NYC's National Academy Museum designed by Belle Fluer in NYC. The centerpiece features the Ultra Sexy “Bourgie” lamp by Kartell (the much more affordable replica of which we have in our inventory) balanced with a bed of anemones and white sweet pea.

To the right is a gorgeous escort table from Mark Niemierko of London– rich black felt cards with white writing are placed on a neutral table and flanked with the delicate white phalaenopsis orchids.

Below that is our “Christine & Peter” invite. Printed on 100% cotton stock creating a rich texture and an eco-friendly paper alternative. The graceful flourishes used within the couples name balances perfectly with the compelling black background.

Finally the bottom right and left is from a room styled by Azur Jazastani of Principal Planner in Montreal Canada. The cake is from Luisa Galuppo Cakes also in Montreal. This room does feature a bit of heather blue but the entire room would look at least as if not more dramatic in all black and white. We love the details used to adorn the back of the black “ghost” chairs delicate rows of organza shaped into a rosette rows in either black and white and accentuated with a dazzling jewel.

We hope you find this look as compelling as we have – we are dying to bring this one to life – so if it grabs you then call us soon!

Cheers!

We were inspired by the turquoise lacquered walls along with the lucite headboard and table. The pops of orange framed with the white make this look so rich.

The fun and funky pieces from Z Gallery always serve as a muse for us. The aquamarine mimosa drapery panels, the miraposa candle holders (of which we already have in our inventory) and the awesome “Miami” canvas print.

We designed a two layer invite and used the drapery panels as a unique backdrop to the invite and with a twist did a full bleed print on the back side of the invite. We printed on our 100% cotton stock, it has a rich texture and sheen when printed in color even better it is oh so GREEN as it is a completely renewable stock printed at our ECHO Friendly printer that is 100% wind powered.

We added a monogram to the back of our sexy and sleek ghost chairs. These are awesome paired with our white leather lounge set or a head table. The Lucite makes such a statement – imagine it in front of a teal bengaline linen – sexy and rich!

For florals we stayed monochromatic with a pave of orange carnations and mokara orchids in our white miraposa vessels and long with a simple linear arrangement in our thin oblong vessels. The linear arrangements are awesome for the “family style” seating as well as a break from the ordinary on rounds.

The miraposa candle sticks are a nice addition in both the aquamarine and white. Great topped with a candle or a pave round would add another dimension and some additional texture to the design.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.mjshelbourn.com/home/2011/9/8/come-get-it.html"><rss:title>Come & get it!</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.mjshelbourn.com/home/2011/9/8/come-get-it.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Here are some fun new rehearsal invites for a good time BBQ. As with all our invites these can be customized to meet the specific needs of your event.
